Minutes later Laurie glided to the centre of the stadium when her name was called. Nervous as she was, she tried to skate in time with her music. Then she did her most difficult jump. "Good," she thought to herself, "my right knee's holding up." As the music ended, applause filled the stadium. When the marks appeared, Laurie knew she achieved her goal. As she walked back to the dressing room, Laurie thought about Jinny's music tape. No one will know how close I really came to losing," Laurie said softly to herself.
